Because here’s the brutal cycle:

Without matric, you cannot get a job.

Without a job, you cannot afford to go back and finish matric.

Without guidance, you do not know where to start.

And so the cycle tightens.

 

We speak endlessly about unemployment, yet we rarely confront this foundational barrier. For millions, the issue is not laziness. It is not a lack of willingness. It is a lack of access, direction, and someone saying: “Come, I’ll show you how.”

 

At Give & Grow Recruitment, we have seen the gap firsthand. That is why we built a non-profit arm with one focused mission: connect individuals without matric to employers willing to give them a chance - while guiding them step-by-step through completing their matric qualification.

 

Because dignity starts with opportunity. Through pathways offered by the Department of Higher Education and Training - including adult education and second-chance matric programmes - there are ways to complete matric later in life.

 

But second chances mean nothing if no one explains them. South Africa does not just need jobs. It needs bridges. Employers who are willing to hire for potential, not paperwork. Communities willing to mentor. We cannot afford to waste 20 million lives.
